Editing improves writing.
But when clients call about our editing services, one of the first questions we’re asked is “What is your hourly rate for editing?”
Well, we don’t have one. We quote every editing job individually.
First, we think shopping for an editor according to an hourly rate can be misleading. An attractive rate from a slow editor may result in a final invoice that’s higher than you expected.
Second, there are many kinds of editing. We help you decide exactly what you need, and we will complete a one-page sample at no charge so you’re sure you’re getting what you want.
Third, editing should not just be a sideline, done when there are no attractive writing jobs around. Editing requires specific skills and experience. We like it, and we find it satisfying. Our clients are very satisfied, too.
